Epsilon 5000 relies on a rugged industrial spectrometer (range: 2.5 - 5.0 µm) providing real-time full spectrum information for improved reliability of the measurement. It integrates an extended source and distance sensors, rendering the analyzer impervious to subtrate movements in all three dimensions (includes tilt).

Epsilon 5000 is rugged, easy to use, and can be installed anywhere without requiring any modification of the manufacturing line. It is 5000 is available with ATEX-compliant integration and/or travelling carriage.

WIDE DYNAMIC RANGE

Measurement of ticknesses from 1 to 100 µm. The epsilon 5000 allows measurement of a wide range of material and thicknesses without modification.

LoD is less than 0.5 µm (thin films) and 4 - 5 µm (thick films) .

WET COATINGS THICKNESS MEASUREMENT

The epsilon 5000 currently is the only real-time thickness measurement analyzer providing a thickness reading as soon as the coating is applied to the (still moving) substrate. There is no need anymore to wait until the coating is dry to know its thickness. This unique feature is enabled by the imperviousness of the device to substrate movements in all 3 dimensions.

EASE OF INSTALLATION

The epsilon 5000 can be installed on the process line without requiring its modification. It can even be easily adapted to various existing travelling carriage systems. It does not require any special certification (e.g. does not contain any radioactive source). There is positioning constraints for the analyzer in relationship with the (moving) substrate.

CALIBRATION

Calibration of the epsilon 5000 can be done in line or in post-processing. This calibration can be easily transferred from one type of coating (primary coating or finish coating) / substrate to the next. It also can be specific to a type of coating / substrate, which significantly decreases the number of standard measurements required to calibrate the analyzer.

REAL-TIME MEASUREMENT

Refresh rate as fast as 100 Hz.

DIRECT (ABSOLUTE) MEASUREMENT

The epsilon 5000 integrates a built-in reference enabling the direct and absolute measurement of the coating thickness. Reference information is collected in less than 7 seconds in-line and in real-time. This dynamic reference values enables continuous adjustment of the measurement to render it independent of any outside source of variation.

PROCESS OPTIMIZATION TOOL

As allowed by a very short response time and the possibility of using the device for wet coating thickness measuremeing on moving free strand substrate, the epsilon 5000 is a most versatile tool designed to enable cost effective coating process optimization.

LOW MAINTENANCE

The epsilon 5000 doesn?t not require excessive maintenance. All critical sub-assemblies are rated at MTBF ranging from 5 to 10 years.
